चिपको चिपको वृक्ष बचाओ is the hindi version of Chipko Takes Root – Saving trees of the Himalayas This story is about Dichi a brave girl who has been crippled by a flash flood due to deforestation, despite of her situation she took part on a movement to save the trees. In the 1970s there was a movement they called Chipko the people from the Alaknandra river in the Himalayas stop the deforestation by hugging the trees.

धूम धड़ाका! धूम धड़ाका! धूम धड़ाका! धूम!

अनगनत भेड़ उसके पसंददा मोहन के पेड़ के इद-गदममया रही थ, जबक “दची उसी पेड़ क$ काफ़$ ऊँचाई वाली एक डाल पर घुटन के बल लटक$ झूल रही थी। उससेहोड़ लगानेवालेउसके तीन भाई चौड़ेतनेवालेउसी पेड़ पर चढ़नेम जुटेथ।

“”दची!” चीड़, बाँज, देवदार और मोहन के पेड़ के जंगल म गूँज उठ: दादा यानी उसके पता क$ पुकार। “आयी दादा!” “दची नेढलान के नीचेएक झाड़ी पर ढोलक को फ का और ख़ुद चट्टान पर फसलते@ए वहाँजा पची।

“चल मेरेसाथ दाद अमा के घर न”दया के पार। खचर पर लदा हैउनके काम का ढेर सारा सामान। चल आ जा मेरेसाथ। भेड़
को हाँक कर सही-सलामत घर पचा देना, बच।”

“हम अपनेसाथ नह लेचल गेIया?” Kयाम नेLठतेए कहा। “अगली बार,” दादा नेती सेकहा, “दाद अमा क$ तबीयत आजकल बत ख़राब है। “दची कुछ “दन वह रहेगी। पहलेक$ तरह सेहतमंद होनेतक उनक$ देखभाल करेगी।”

दादा नेखचर क$ रास पकड़ कर उसे न”दया क$ घुटन तक गहरी धारा पार कराई। “दची नेअपना घाघरा हाथ सेऊपर उठाकर समेट लया, ताक वह आसानी से चट्टान पर कूद-कूद कर धारा पार कर सके। बफ़Rलेठंडेपानी म पैर पड़नेसे उसके पंज म सनसनी हो रही थी। तभी उसका पाँव फसला और वह छपाक से पानी म गर गई।

“सँभल के!” पास ही मछली पकड़ रहे उसके चाचा नेहोशयार कया।

तभी अचानक न”दया म पानी का सैलाब आ गया। देखतेही देखतेन”दया गरजन-े उफननेलगी, और वेसब भयानक बाढ़ म फँस गए। चाचा “दची क$ बाँह पकड़नेके Qलए लपके।

उसका बायाँपैर बहाव केसाथ लुढ़कतेए आई चट्टान के नीचेफँस गया। नद के उफान म दादा बस धुँधलेसेनज़र आ रहेथे, और उनक$ आवाज़ भी पानी केशोर म दब गयी थी। तेज़ बहाव म फँस कर खचर कसी तरह पैर जमानेक$ कोQशश करतेऔर तैरतेए Vसरेकनारे तक पचा, जबक उस पर लदा सारा सामान पानी म गर कर बह गया था।

अड़यल चट्टान से”दची का पैर छुड़ानेके Qलए बलकुल कसी पहलवान क$ तरह ज़ोर लगाते चाचा, बड़ी मुWKकल सेअपनेपैर जमाए थे। मटमैलेपानी सेसराबोर होनेके बावजूद उXहने अपनी पूरी हमत जुटा कर कसी तरह “दची को बाहर नकाला। उसेअपनेमज़बूत कंध पर डाल, सीधेउसक$ माँके पास पचाया। नढाल सी पड़ी अपनी बेट को देख-देख कर सुबकती रही उसक$ माँ। “दची का बायाँपैर ददसेऐसेफटा जा रहा था मानो Zजार सूइयाँचुभ रही ह। उसेकँपकँपी छूट जा रही थी, और फर वह बेहोश हो गई।

“दची को उसक$ घबरायी ई माँके हवालेकरके चाचा लौट पड़ेदादा क$ तलाश म। लेकन दादा घर नह लौटे। जब उनक$ लाश को नद सेनकाल कर घर लाया गया तब “दची के “दल को डर के बेरहम पंजेनेजकड़ Qलया।

“दची खेल का सामान बनानेवाली उस कंपनी के बारेम अछ तरह जानती थी जो \केट के ब]लेऔर खेल का Vसरा सामान बनानेके Qलए चीड़, बाँज, देवदार और मोहन के पेड़ काटते थे। येलोग हमारेजंगल को Iय काटेडाल रहेह? Iया उXह “दखाई नह देता क ऐसा करने सेपहाड़ दरक जातेह,और उनका मलबा नीचेआ जाता ह?ै उXह नह पता क पहाड़ दरकने सेअचानक बाढ़ आती हैजो पहाड़ पर रहनेवालेबेबस लोग को बहा लेजाती है? ऐसी ही बाढ़ म तो दादा… और “दची का बायाँपैर चला गया। अब घुटन सेनीचेउसका पैर पूरी तरह सुXन ह।ै
