Hindi एक जैसे या अलग-अलग?एक जैसे या अलग-अलग? – Hindi Story is a Level 3 story about friendship despite differences. Snake and Sparrow are two friends who do not have very much in common or so they think. Their parents warn them each day to stay away from each other. But the two of them feel sad and know that they can be best of friends despite the perceived differences and traditional thinking.

With the use of a mathematical sorting diagram, they list their similarities and differences. Will they be able to prove to themselves that they have more in the same than what they think? A kind teacher helps them think outside the box but inside of mathematical reasoning to complete this task.

ममी ने नही गौरैया के बते म उसका
खाने का डबा रखा और बड़े यार से
उसे अपने पंख म भर लया।
“ओ मेरी बेटू, मन लगा कर पढ़ना, सब
से अछ तरह बात करना, ख़ुशी-ख़ुशी
घर आना …”
“अरे अमा!” नही गौरैया हँस पड़ी।
“तुम रोज़ यही बात कहती हो!”

 

 

“और हाँ, याद रखना,” ममी आगे बोल। ” सँपोले से र ही रहना – वो हमारे जैसा नह है।”
गौरैया को लगा, ममी को ऐसा नह कहना चाहए था। आखर सँपोला उसका सबसे
अछा दोत था। पर ममी को वह बकुल पसद नह था।
“उसके परवार वाले हमारे परवार वाल को खा जाते ह!” वह हमेशा कहती थ। “गौरैया
और साँप क दोती कभी नह हो सकती।”

वह शहर के एक सरे कोने म, सँपोले
के पापा उसके खाने के डबे म गौरैया
के अडे रख रहे थे।
“आज का खाना तो बत ही ख़ास है
बेटा!” उहने शान से कहा।
“मगर पापा, मुझे अडे बकुल अछे
नह लगते,” सँपोले ने परेशान होकर कहा।

 

 

 

“हमारे परवार म यह हमेशा से खाए जाते रहे ह!” पापा ने ज़रा सती से कहा। “अब चलो पाठशाला जाओ। और हाँ, याद रखना, नही गौरैया से र ही रहना!” गुसा तो उसे बत आया पर सँपोला चुपचाप रगता आ बाहर नकल गया। “गौरैया हमसे बत अलग होती ह,” पापा ने आवाज़ ऊँची करके कहा। “और फर, साँप अगर गौरैया से दोती करेगा तो खाएगा या?”

पाठशाला म जब नही गौरैया और सँपोला मले, तो एक सरे क उतरी ई शल देखकर समझ गए। “या तुहारी ममी ने आज भी वही बात बोली…?” सँपोले ने पूछा। नही गौरैया ने हाँ म सर हला दया। “तुहारे पापा ने भी?” सँपोले ने भी हाँ म सर हला दया। “पर हमारे ममी पापा गलत ह नही गौरैया,” सँपोला बोला। “आओ उह दखा द क हम अलग-अलग होने के बावजूद एक जैसे ह।”

नही गौरैया यह सुनकर ख़ुश हो गई। “हाँ, हाँ, चलो दखाते ह!” उसने एक कागज़ नकाला और उस पर दो गोले बनाए – इस तरह।

“बाँय गोले के पीले भाग म,” नही गौरैया ने समझाया, “हम सफ़ गौरैया से जुड़ी बात लखगे। और दाँय गोले के नीले भाग म, सफ़ साँप से जुड़ी बात। यह वह बात हग जनम साँप और गौरैया एक सरे से अलग-अलग ह।” पर सँपोले को यह बात कुछ समझ नह आई। “मुझे तो लगा हम लोग वह बात लखने जा रहे ह, जनम हम दोन एक जैसे ह!” “अरे बीच के हरे भाग म हम वही तो लखगे,” नही गौरैया धीमे से मुकुरा कर बोली।

“आओ पहले सोच क हम दोन दखने म कैसे ह,” नही गौरैया बोली। “एक जैसे या अलग-अलग?” “बत-बत अलग,” सँपोले ने गहरी साँस भरते ए कहा। “म लबा , पतला  और मेरे शरीर पर बाल भी नह ह। तुम छोट सी हो, मोट सी हो और कतनी नरम-नरम।” “तुमने सही कहा,” नही गौरैया बोली। “म ई का एक गोला लगती ,” उसने पीले भाग म ई का एक गोला बनाया, “और तुम एक खुरदरी-सी रसी जैसे।” नीले भाग म उसने एक रसी बनाई।

“अब बताओ,” वह बोली, “या हमारी
चाल एक जैसी है?”
“नह, बत अलग” सँपोला और
उदास हो गया। “तुम हवा म उड़ती हो,
अपने पँख फड़फड़ाकर। म ज़मीन पर
रगकर आगे बढ़ता , आड़ा-तरछा।”
“यान यूँ समझ लो,” नही गौरैया
बोली, “म करती  हवा क सवारी,
तुम चलते जैसे छुक-छुक गाड़ी।”
