A priest walk by and asked him what he was doing, then warned him that the branch would break, he will fall down and die. Then it happened, the wood cutter believed he was dead because everything the priest said happened. A story about someone who is fool enough to believe anything without using his brain.

Par une belle matinée ensoleillée, le bûcheron de Gura partit ramasser du bois. Il traversa la plaine et atteignit le gros olivier, près de la rivière. Il grimpa dans l’arbre et s’assit tout au bout de la plus grosse branche. Il s’installa confortablement, souleva sa hache et se mit à couper la branche sur laquelle il était assis.

Le prêtre du village, qui passait par là, s’arrêta pour lui parler.

— Eh, l’ami, que fais-tu ? demanda-t-il. Ce n’est pas la bonne façon de couper du bois !

— Ah, et quelle est la bonne façon ? répondit le bûcheron. Si tu veux du bois, il faut soulever la hache et la taper contre le bois. Tchouk ! Tchouk ! Tchouk !

— Mais tu es assis tout au bout de la branche et tu tapes en plein dans son milieu, expliqua le prêtre. La branche va casser et alors, tu tomberas par terre et tu mourras.

Le bûcheron pensa que le prêtre plaisantait. Il était borné et paresseux et ne voulut pas changer de position. Le prêtre secoua la tête et poursuivit son chemin. Le bûcheron ne bougea pas d’un millimètre et se remit à couper la branche. Tchouk ! Tchouk ! Tchouk !
